Give Peace a Chance

Advent = coming or arrival

John 14:27
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.

Peace is a signature move of Jesus

Luke 2:13
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

The announcement of the presence of Jesus on the scene was accompanied by a declaration that Peace is now on the scene and available.

Isaiah 9:6
For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace 7 Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.

Hebrews 7:17
“a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek”

Melchizedek = “king of peace”

Ephesians 2:14
For he himself  is our peace

The Peace Jesus gives is not defined by the absence of something but by the presence of someone.

Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Mark 4:38
But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow.

Peace doesn't come from finding a lake with no storms. It comes from having Jesus in the boat.

The presence of Jesus allows us to have peace no matter what else is going on around us.
