Framing Faith | Committed & Connected | 10.25.20
By: Pastor Joshua Blount
Hebrews 6:1-3 1 Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead work and of faith toward God. 2 of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgement. 3 And this we will do if God permits.
Baptism shows you are Committed to God.
4 Reasons Why We Should ALL Be Baptized in Water:
- Jesus was water baptized
- Jesus commanded it
- It empowers us to know God and serve Him in a greater way
- It makes a powerful public statement
Laying on of hands creates Connection with God and with His people.
7 Things That Can be Transferred Through the Laying On of Hands:
- Baptism of the Holy Spirit
- Spiritual Covering
- Apostolic Governance
Ask if anyone has exciting or something new to share with the group.
Play a small portion of a funny group game.
_01. While your relationship with God may be personal, it was never meant to be private. Have you ever found yourself shying away from sharing your faith in Christ?
_02. As circumcision was a covenant with God in the old testament, so water baptism is a covenant with God in the new testament and today. As circumcision cuts away flesh to allow for heightened sensitivity and hygiene, water baptism cuts away flesh from the heart to allow you to be more sensitive to the Holy Spirit and be made clean. Have you been baptized in water? If so, how has being water baptized led to the maturing of your faith?
_03. In what ways do you use touch to foster relationships?
_04. Have you experienced a holy transfer from the laying on of hands? Please share your experience with the group.
