Luke 19:11
Now as they heard these things, He spoke another parable, because He was near Jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of God would appear immediately. He said: “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. 13 So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’

Luke 19:13 KJV
Occupy till I come.

We exist to be the occupying army in the season of awaiting Jesus’ return.

Matthew 12:43-45
“Now when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, it roams through waterless (dry, arid) places in search of rest, but it does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it arrives, if it finds the place unoccupied, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and make their home there. And the last condition of that man becomes worse than the first.

Satan is a squatter

Squatter - a person who unlawfully occupies an uninhabited space.

There is no neutral ground in the universe. Every square inch, every split second, is claimed by God and counterclaimed by Satan.
C.S. Lewis

1 Peter 5:8
Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour.

Romans 8:37
In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

As joint heirs with Christ, we not only share in His triumph, but we draw from His infinite resources to live victorious lives
Charles Spurgeon

We’re Vacant

Matthew 12:44
Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when it arrives, if it finds the place unoccupied, swept, and put in order. 45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and make their home there. And the last condition of that man becomes worse than the first.

We’re Occupied With Empty

“When you feel like everything you do is pointless and you’re just going through the motions. Just trying to fill in the time until you die. Sometimes you have fun or something good happens which can distract you for a while, but ultimately there is a hollowness inside which never goes away. It’s as if you’re transparent and anything positive like love or joy just passes right through you without sticking and afterwards it feels like it was never there at all.”

Genesis 3:6
The woman looked at the fruit on the tree. She saw that it would be good to eat, and it was beautiful to look at.

Genesis 3:7
Then the eyes of the two of them were opened

Matthew 6:23
But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness.

We’re Occupied With Off

2 Timothy 3:1
This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Ephesians 6:12
We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

principalities, powers, the rulers of the darkness of this world, spiritual wickedness in high places.

Hebrews 12:26
“Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” 27 This phrase, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain.

Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.

Trusting is leaning

Ephesians 6:14
After you have done everything, to stand.

The Kingdom of God is Upside Down

Luke 19:10
The Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

John 3:30
I must decrease so that He can increase.

The Christian life is a constant invitation to let Christ occupy more and more of our hearts. John 3:30 challenges us to willingly decrease in self-occupation, making room for the divine occupation of our lives
John Ortberg

John 3:30 reveals the divine principle of humility—choosing the lowly position, decreasing in self, so that God can occupy the highest place in our hearts. It's in this lowliness that His glory is magnified.
Watchman Nee
